What we collect
If you contact us, we collect your name, email address, company, and
anything else you choose to tell us.
When you visit the site we may collect technical information such as your IP
address, browser type and how you used the pages. This happens through the
third parties listed below, and through analytics only if you have agreed to
it.
We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for unsolicited marketing.
Why we are allowed to use it
We process personal data where it is necessary for our legitimate business
interests, where it is needed to fulfil a contract, or where you have given
your consent. Analytics is the one that relies on consent, and you can
withdraw it at any time.
Who else is involved
Running a podcast website means other companies handle some of this.
- Captivate hosts the audio and the episode artwork. Playing or
downloading an episode is a request to Captivate, who log it to count
listens. This is how podcast hosting works everywhere, and it happens
whether you listen here, in Apple Podcasts or in Spotify.
- Vercel hosts the website and keeps short-lived server logs, which
include IP addresses.
- Supabase stores the site's own content, such as episodes and
transcripts, and the images we upload. It holds no information about
visitors.
- Google Analytics 4 counts visits, but only if you agree to it. Nothing
is sent to Google before you do.
- YouTube is used for episode videos, on its privacy-enhanced domain,
and only loads when you press play. Until you do, YouTube is not contacted
at all.
The fonts are served from this site, not from Google, so viewing a page does
not tell Google you were here.
We do not transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA without appropriate
protection in place.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it
was collected for, or for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected,
or have it deleted. Write to hello@hunterhawes.com.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data you can complain to
the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
